How to Have a Low-Carb Halloween

by Dr. Jennifer Bennett

Halloween is coming – the sugariest night of the year! But for those that are trying to stay healthy by keeping things low-carb, it can feel like a time of being left out or a time when cravings hit hard.

So how can you help indulge yourself while still maintaining that low-carb diet? Simple! Prep your house with low-carb treats that will have you feeling like you aren’t missing a thing. If you need some help with ideas, we’ve got more than a few for you!

Treats to Have at a Party

Low Carb Pumpkin Truffles

If you are a truffle, pumpkin, or pumpkin truffle fan then these chocolate covered pumpkin truffles by Low Carb Yum are for you! Made with pumpkin, heavy whipping cream, and sweetened with stevia and Swerve, these no-bake treats are a delight. If you have a dairy allergy – consider swapping out the heavy whipping cream for chilled coconut cream.

Sugar Free Keto Peanut Butter Cups

If you are missing out on Reese’s peanut butter cups, try these dairy-free peanut butter fat bombs by Wholesome Yum out instead! With dark chocolate, coconut oil, vanilla and peanut butter, you won’t even be able to taste a difference. Freezing them in muffin cups will give that classic peanut butter cup look. Pro tip: eat them frozen as the coconut oil may soften a lot at room temp.

No-Bake “Almond Joy” Bars

Jonesing for that coconut vibe? These no-bake “Almond Joy’s” by Whole New Mom will have you asking for more! A mix of almond butter, erythritol, coconut flakes and coconut oil provides the base for this recipe. Consider taking out the almonds for a more “Mounds” sort of feel.

Pumpkin Cookie Balls

Finally – if you are missing out on the cookies this year – these pumpkin cookie balls by Keto Adapted may top the cake. A mix of coconut and almond flour make the base, while coconut oil or butter holds it all together. The pumpkin spice really gives it that fall feel we all love.

Kirkland Low-Carb Protein Bars

If you are looking to be the “cool” kid on the block and hand out full sized bars, these Kirkland Signature protein bars are the way to go. With flavors like chocolate chip cookie dough, brownie chunk and cookies and cream, you would hardly know they aren’t candy bars. Each bar contains less than 3g of net carbs per bar. They do contain dairy though for those that need to avoid it.

Smart Sweets Gummy Bears

Lastly, if you just need that gummy vibe, smart sweets might have what you crave. They’ve got all sorts of spooky shapes and flavors that are sure to get you in the Halloween spirit. Every bag is less than 3g of sugar. So feel free to indulge!
